In 2003, Richard Capener heard Astro Twin on late night radio. Beginning in 2021, unable to find recordings of this collaboration between Ami Yoshida and Utah Kawasaki, he began to reconstruct what he heard from memory following Astro Twin’s abandoned webpage, “Boring sounds / unevolving sounds / unproductive sounds / lazy sounds / garbagelike sounds...” presented in swathes of silence. In so doing, Capener created an orphanage for unwanted bits of language and an orphanage for the lost Astro Twins.

Halfway through this project, Capener found two recordings of Astro Twin which, he must concede, sound markedly different to what he remembers.

An early version of #1 was published by Beir Bua Journal in October 2021.
